We have developed 4 key themes to drive our annual delivery to help focus our work and ensure that the projects and services provided meet the needs of the local community and its young people:

EAT WELL : STAY FIT

To explore both physical and mental well-being, promoting being active and growing greater awareness around nutrition and healthy eating. Supporting increased exercise and physical activity to reduce obesity and challenges future health outcomes.

SPEKE OUT AGAINST CRIME

To raise awareness around all aspects of crime, tackling issues including but not limited to gang culture, knife crime, bullying, cyberbullying, prejudice, substance abuse, anti-social behaviour and the negative impacts they have on those involved, the victims, their families and society as a whole.

ARTS, CULTURE AND DIVERSITY

To explore creativity as a tool for growing cultural and social awareness and to better understand the diverse populations that make up our city and wider society.  This will challenge intolerance and address issues such as race, disability and sexual identity.  Links will also be made with the city’s wider cultural and artistic offer, which can sometimes feel disconnected from Speke.

BEING ME

To empower our young people to become better citizens and allow them opportunities to discover more about themselves, their community and to celebrate the things that are important to them, whilst growing their self-confidence and personal development.

Our key themes provide structure and a framework for planning and delivery, but equally projects and programmes are cross cutting supporting fluidity between the themes and years.  Likewise, free play is an integral and important part of our overall offer as it supports play, socialising and imagination that are all important components of childhood development, promoting happy childhood memories and for simply having fun!
